Our Celebration Cluster, for An Octagon Year

To our followers and friends, the expression, “an Octagon year,” has long identified a harvest which gives us an Octagon, our most admired wine. But 2025 presented us with so much good fortune – of Octagon stature – that all of 2025 has presented the Octagon experience, yielding reward after reward of the highest rank.

Very gladly, I present a Celebration Cluster of Three Wines to capture this Octagon character of the year we are celebrating, with keen anticipation for the year ahead. Last month, I reported that 2025 placed us, for only the third time, in one of the rarest sequences of vintages in our history – 3 great harvests in a row. But we have every hope, and reason to hope to carry the excellence of 2023, 2024, and 2025 into 2026. A vigorous, historic consistency is a trait shown by several our wines, yet by none more this year, than the 3 we’ve chosen.

For this special purchase, I’ve chosen Vermentino Reserve 2024 because I know it clearly to be the equal, at least, of the 2023 vintage which won the 2025 Virginia Governor’s Cup. (In response to that great honor, the 2023 vintage has been chosen to lead off our Thanksgiving Feast at Palladio , sold out). If you are coming to the winery on Sunday the 14th of December, plan to savor the 2024 Vermentino Reserve with freshly shucked oysters in our Arcades overlooking the estate.

I’ve selected Octagon 2019 because it was designated by Wine Enthusiast in 2023, as one of the Top 100 Wines of the World, and we have announced it for the menu of our New Year’s Eve feast. And I’ve chosen Nascent 2020 because it was so highly rated this Spring in a tasting conducted by JamesSuckling.com, and was named by them as one of this year’s Top 100 Wines in the United States.

Accordingly, of course, this vintage will also be poured at Palladio on New Year’s Eve.
