Cabernet Franc Reserve

This especially food-friendly wine is so varietally characterful and intriguing that its outstanding response to our terroir has sustained its ranking among the most honored and loyally followed wines we produce. We grow vines originating from the Loire Valley as well as Pomerol and St Emilion, as the foundation of a wine famed for elegance and complexity as well as considerable age worthiness.

Cellar Life

An abnormally warm March induced budbreak in our vines two weeks ahead of schedule, followed by a series of cold, frosty nights which deprived us of 40 percent of our crop. Having faced these conditions before, as in 2007 and 1996, we accepted these losses and remained hopeful and prepared for a great remainder of the growing season. We experienced further losses during a rainy June, but finally — from early August into late September — clear and sunny skies rewarded us with beautifully ripened fruit for our labors. The whites showed beautiful aromatics and refreshing acidity, while the reds exhibited great depth of flavor and structure for aging. A stellar vintage for Octagon.
