Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve2016

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

Our rarest wine, the Reserve Cabernet will age at great length and respond to the highest demands for varietal expression. The wine is based on a grape selection identified by long experience as the finest for our growing region, and grown in specially selected small vineyard blocks. It is aged at least a full year in old and new French oak barriques crafted for us in Piemonte, Italy.

Cellar Life

Costly beginnings with a superb climax. A prematurely warm March induced bud break two weeks ahead of average, and then a series of frosty April nights robbed us of much of the crop. As the season progressed the vines suffered additional crop losses during a rainy June. Finally, from early August into late September, we enjoyed picking beautifully ripened fruit under clear and sunny skies. The whites showed beautiful aromatics and refreshing acidity, while the reds exhibited great depth of flavor and structure for aging. A stellar Octagon vintage.
