A wine of highly distinctive character, achieved in blending estate-grown Bordeaux varietals, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and/or Petit Verdot, Octagon’s great prestige rests further on its being created only in fine vintages, and with the most astute selection from the harvest. But it is also the highest expression of our estate’s European derivation and inspiration; a wine of distinction and age worthiness in every incarnation.

Octagon at the core

Cellar Life

The vintage was characterized by intermittent rains and warm conditions from Spring into early Summer, which induced vigorous vine growth. Long days became a must, of leaf removals and edging around the clusters to allow sunshine to penetrate in the “fruit zone.” Ideal dry condition set in from end of August until copious rains arrived in late September. By then all reds had been harvested in ideal conditions, with the exception of Cabernet Sauvignon which was collected after the rains and produced a fine but lighter wine, not included in the blend of an exceptional vintage of Octagon.
